Holiday sketching

Before retiring from full-time work, sketching was mostly reserved for holidays, one of the few times I could truly slow down and indulge in it. As life became a little less hectic (especially once the children were older), I found that a few quiet hours with a sketchpad became the perfect way to relax and recharge. This charming cottage garden, located in St Columb Minor on Cornwall’s North Coast, offered just that. With its bamboo and shingle patio, it had a distinctly Japanese feel, a peaceful spot to sit back with a pen in one hand and a glass of wine in the other.

A sketch is a good way to remember a special place…
