“We’ll always have Paris.” There’s a drawing waiting at every turn in the City of Light, though on a short city break back in 2023 I only managed two! In a place so synonymous with art and artists, it would have felt almost criminal not to spend at least a little time sketching, ideally with a glass of red wine and a madeleine or two.

The rooftops were drawn from our hotel window near the Luxembourg Gardens, (colour and shading added at home), while the quicker sketch was made at Square Saint-Médard on Rue Mouffetard.

In a very on-brand move, I left my bag in a café before a day of sightseeing, complete with my wallet and a stack of recent sketches. Thankfully the owner had it safe, otherwise, dozens of drawings would have met a tragic end!
