Boulmer Lifeboat Station

I’ve stayed in Boulmer many times over the years, often around my annual trip to the North East for the Great North Run. It’s a quiet village east of Alnwick on the Northumberland coast.

The lifeboat station sits opposite the beach entrance and caught my eye on one sunny but chilly evening. Part of the joy of drawing a place is discovering its story, and this modest building has a remarkable past—dating back to 1825 and marked by generations of quiet bravery at sea.
