Low Newton

This was one of the first drawings I made after deciding to return to sketching. After decades away from pencil and paper, spent creating artwork through Quantel and Adobe digital tools, it felt unexpectedly intimidating to open a sketchbook again.

The turning point came as I leafed through my parents’ old sketchbooks. Inspired, I created this drawing of a holiday hut tucked into the dunes, based on a photo from a trip to the Northumberland coast. That moment marked a quiet but significant shift – a rediscovery of something I hadn’t realised I’d missed.

  1. I think I’ve cracked it Paul. I need to read on the blog and then the picture comes up.. I am very admiring of your plank lines. I couldn’t do that with a ruler! Nice back-story too.
