Poster Art
I spotted these fabulous illustrated travel posters in a café on a recent trip through Switzerland. Hand-drawn travel posters were never just advertisements; they were interpretations. Artists distilled the essence of a destination into something idealised yet deeply human. Their work carried personality, imperfection, and a distinct point of view – qualities that made each piece memorable.
There’s something quietly powerful about those older posters. They invite you not just to visit a place, but to dream about it first. Losing that tradition feels like losing a layer of storytelling – one where travel wasn’t just sold, but artfully imagined.
I’m not convinced that today’s health & safety culture would allow coffee on the go to be depicted like this either!
